Promotion Policy

The school follows the promotion and assessment guidelines prescribed by CBSE, NEP 2020, and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE), as amended from time to time.

1. Foundational Stage (Pre-Nursery to Grade II)

  • Assessment is continuous, competency-based, and age-appropriate.
  • Emphasis is placed on the holistic development of the child, including cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and language skills.
  • Promotion is based on overall participation, developmental progress, and regular attendance.

2. Preparatory Stage (Grades III to V)

  • Promotion is based on a combination of formative and summative assessments conducted throughout the academic year.
  • Continuous evaluation includes worksheets, projects, portfolios, subject enrichment activities, and class participation.
  • Summative assessments are conducted twice a year to evaluate cumulative learning.
  • Regular attendance and consistent academic engagement are essential for promotion.

3. Secondary Wing (Grades VI to IX & XI)

  • Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance during the academic session.
  • Promotion is based on overall academic performance in Periodic Assessments, Half-Yearly, and Annual Examinations.
  • Appearing in the Annual Examination is mandatory for promotion.
  • Students must secure:
    • 40% marks in the Annual Examination (Classes VI–VIII)
    • 33% marks in the Annual Examination (Class IX)
  • Students who do not meet the prescribed passing criteria may be required to appear for a re-examination as per school and CBSE norms.
  • No re-test will be conducted for absence in Periodic Assessments, except when a student is officially representing the school and prior approval has been obtained.
  • Retests in Half-Yearly or Annual Examinations may be considered only in cases of serious illness, supported by a valid medical certificate and approval from the Principal.

4. General Conditions

  • Promotion is determined by the student's overall academic performance, attendance, conduct, and compliance with school regulations.
  • The decision of the school regarding promotion or detention shall be final.
  • All promotion norms are subject to revision in accordance with CBSE guidelines and statutory requirements.
